For the second year in a row, the PTA coordinated a silent auction in conjunction with our carnival.  All the funds raised from the silent auction go towards a specific project at the school. This year, our goal was to raise $1700.00 and the money would go towards playground updates.

Despite the postponing of our carnival due to a district-wide snow day in January, we were able to offer several items through an online auction site.  Many of these items were Chiefs related, including an autographed Sammy Watkins football, and fit perfectly with their appearance in the championship game.  Through the online auction site, we raised $930.00 and the remainder of the items were available at the silent auction at the carnival in March.

With over 45 items to bid on, the carnival’s silent auction was a popular spot.  There was a wide variety of items including: sweet treats, classroom customized home decor items, gift cards, and even a special lunch and video game time with Dr. Hogg!  Many classrooms created theme baskets like Summer Fun, Movie Night and Pot of Gold (a basket with lottery tickets and chocolate coins). We are grateful to room parents and teachers for helping to coordinate these special auction items.  We are also thankful for silent auction donations from our business members: Auto Dreams, Bank of the West, Inspired by You Jewelry, The Law Offices of Taylor and Taylor, and Wally’s Grill and Drafthouse.

As the final seconds were counted down, Mrs. Mabee’s music room bustled with excitement and people scrambled to get those last bids in.  We are excited to report that the total raised at the carnival’s silent auction was $2201.00, bringing our grand total to $3131.00!!! We can’t thank you enough for your generosity and support!  These funds will go a long way towards making our playground even more fun and inclusive and we can’t wait to share those updates with you.
